Hi! I’m Malaika.

I’m a corporate attorney who has left practice to explore my truest passion: WRITING. This has been an insane adventure and I’m excited to share it with you.

So, welcome to the Writer’s Block Party!

I’m kicking the concept of “writer’s block” to the curb and creating a literary “party” where craft, content, community, and culture collide. Here, I’ll discuss all things literature, including current reads, my work, BTS of my writing journey, craft tips, community events, and the like.

But, first, some basics:

• Wife & Mom of two beautiful girls

• Current Work: Women’s Fiction Novel with elements of suspense (complete) + NEW! Adult Thriller Novel (in the works!) along with some essays & creative nonfiction pieces

• Places I’ve Called Home: Minneapolis > Dallas > Philadelphia > Los Angeles > Dallas (again!) > NYC > CLT > ATL (always chasing an adventure!)

• Undergrad Degree: UPENN, Philosophy, Politics & Economics with a Minor in Theatre Arts (creativity is in my DNA!)

• Columbia Law School grad

• My Path: Marketing Professional > Corporate Attorney > In-House Banking Lawyer > Insurance Executive > Writer (OTW to becoming a published author)

• Things I love: WRITING, Travel, Creating Community, Reading, Sailing, Water, Whiskey, and Adventure

In addition to writing, I coach other creatives, lead a couple writing groups (join us!), take classes (s/o to Emory + Gotham Writers), host workshops, and work every day to get better and to get my work out to the world.
